Looking for ways to make your business run more efficiently? Structured cabling is an often-overlooked way to help your business operate at its best, particularly if you rely heavily on technology as most of today’s businesses do. Here are some of the top ways that structured cabling helps your business thrive.
1. Structured Cabling Makes It Easy to Manage Everything: No matter the size of your business or the complexity of your IT infrastructure, structured cabling can help tremendously when it comes to managing your technology! If you have dozens of wires going to different equipment – computers, phones, thermostats, security cameras, smart lighting, copy machines, etc. – then it can be hard to manage unless everything is clearly labelled and organized.
When your IT infrastructure is well-designed and well-organized, your employees can be much more productive. You can carry out day-to-day operations including video conferences, voice calls, streaming, and much more with the peace of mind that your network is up to the task. Reliable technology is one of the keys to realizing your business’s full potential and structured cabling is essential to reliable technology!
2. It Looks Neat and Organized: Structured cabling will keep your business’s IT network well-organized. This helps in a practical sense. When all the wires are neatly organized, it’s much more difficult for someone to unplug the wrong cable in error, trip over a loose cable, or waste time searching for the right cable in a tangled mess.
Plus, aesthetics matter! Your data wiring will look neat and attractive when you use a structured cabling system. It will definitely look better than a tangled mess of disorganized wires, and as a result, your business will appear more professional to anyone who visits.
3. Structured Cabling is Customized to Your Business: When it comes to IT, “one size fits all” is rarely the best choice. Every business has different needs. Even if there’s a business down the street that is exactly the same size as yours and does the same type of work that you do, your data wiring needs might be very different depending on the specific equipment you have, the layout and floor plan of your office, your budget considerations, and several more factors. Having structured cabling that’s tailored to your needs will always save you time, money, and effort in the long run!
4. It Reduces the Chance of Costly Downtime: Any business owner knows that the cost of downtime can be steep, even if it’s just for thirty minutes or an hour. Sometimes, a network goes down for unexplained reasons. If this happens, it’s much easier to find the cause when all the cables are organized and clearly labelled. You can quickly identify where the problem is and fix it.
Whether it’s a simple fix or a complicated one, the troubleshooting and repair can be carried out much more quickly. And since the cables are neatly out of the way, no one is going to trip on them, pull a plug, and cause downtime. Your productivity (and bottom line) will remain intact!
5. It’s Super Flexible: Technology can change rapidly, and if you don’t keep up, it can have dire consequences for your business. Each time your company invests in a new IT system, it’s important to make sure that it is future proof. This is true when it comes to cabling. If a new innovation comes out in the next few years and you want to upgrade, you should easily be able to do so with a well-designed system of structured cabling.
With a disorganized cabling system, it might be hard to swap out cables for new ones that transmit more data, more quickly. It might also be hard to reorganize or add new hardware. But with neat and methodically designed structured cabling, it’s far easier to be flexible and it’ll be able to keep up with you as you work toward a more efficient work environment.
Plus, if there’s any chance that your business will change locations in the future, structured cabling is surprisingly easy to disassemble and reassemble in a new place with minimal downtime and minimal stress! It’s designed to be flexible so that it can meet your changing needs well into the future.
6. Structured Cabling Can Scale as You Grow: On a similar note to flexibility, structured cabling is also easy to scale as your company grows. This is the other key part to future-proofing your business’s IT network. It’s important to know that you can not only move or rearrange your cabling, but you can also add to it as time goes on and your needs change. As your company grows, you can also bring your cabling up to speed when you use a structured cabling system.
If you need to add several new workstations, another server cabinet, or more bandwidth, then you can easily add these things to a well-organized structured cabling system. You can add multiple new employees or more technology without having to reinstall your whole IT infrastructure. This can save you a lot of cash!
7. It Can Save You Money in the Long Run: Due to its reliability, flexibility, and scalability, a well-designed cabling system will help you save money and grow your bottom line. When you keep everything organized, you can spend less money on repairs, downtime, rearranging or adding new technology to your infrastructure.

A PBX is an acronym for Private Branch Exchange, which is a private telephone network that allows users can talk to each other. Different hardware components work in tandem to provide connectivity to the telephone network. A PBX operates a company’s internal telephone network.

At EVOLVE we supply and install PBX systems for your office premises, PBX is a telephone system within an enterprise that switches calls between enterprise users/employees on local lines while allowing all users to share a certain number of external phone lines.
PBX systems enable employees to call other employees, and businesses can route phone numbers to intercom systems, enabling broader communication. One of the primary benefits of these systems is that employees can share phone lines when placing outgoing phone calls, which allows businesses to reduce the number of lines for which they have to pay.
IP PBX systems provide the same features as traditional systems but use computers for routing calls. These systems allow companies to store messages digitally, and they can use new buildings’ Internet infrastructure instead of forcing companies to install traditional copper wires.
PBX systems can also be applicable in apartments for communication between security personnel and the tenants
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) is a TV system in which signals are not publicly distributed but are monitored, primarily for surveillance and security purposes.
CCTV relies on the strategic placement of cameras and private observation of the camera’s input on monitors. The system is called “closed-circuit” because the cameras, monitors and/or video recorders communicate across a proprietary coaxial cable run or wireless communication link. Access to data transmissions is limited by design. CCTV is commonly used for a variety of purposes, including:

-
- Maintaining perimeter security.
- Building and grounds security.
- Monitoring traffic.
- Obtaining a visual record of human activity.
- Observing the behaviour of incarcerated inmates and potentially dangerous patients in medical facilities.
- Overseeing locations that would be hazardous to a human, for example, highly radioactive or toxic industrial environments.
- Obtaining a visual record of activities in situations where it is necessary to maintain proper security or access controls (such as bank operation casinos, or airports).
- CCTV is finding increasing use in law enforcement, for everything from traffic observation (and automated ticketing) to the observation of high-crime areas or neighbourhoods.

Understanding How CPU Accessories Streamline Upgrading the Computer
The motherboard is the central component of the computer and holds all the CPU accessories within the computer case so they can communicate and work together. The computer accessories can range from what powers the processors to the hard drive. In between, you have RAM, network cards, graphics processing units, patch panels and other hardware that help you connect all these components so they work as one unit. The motherboard includes distinct functionalities, and your computer must have a motherboard that is compatible with the processor. Upgrading your computer requires interchanging desktop accessories, and you need to make sure your upgrades are consistent with the rest of the computer components. For instance, upgrading your processor will give you faster processing, but take into account the power requirements of the other parts, like the graphics processing unit and motherboard.
The Difference Between HDD and SSD Is Speed
Storage devices are key for determining how much you can download onto your computer. A solid-state drive (SSD) and a hard disk drive (HDD) are computer accessories that simply store data. Think of the HDD as a mechanical platter that drives the computer as it reads information. The SSD is a newer and faster type of drive that stores bits of information like a flash drive for quick access. The HDD, which is like a vinyl album, has to search for the data. Whichever you choose, there are SSD and HDD accessories needed for the build. Both need mounting kits and brackets to install them in their empty bays. Some computers may require bay adapters for the drives if they are too small for the slot. Other desktop accessories you might also want to consider are disk storage cases that protect drives when you transport them.
Computer Accessories Include Wired Components Like Connectors and Jacks
Upgrading your computer may require different wired accessories. For instance, if you need to change your desktop cooling fan, you might need to consider wired accessories from DC connectors to rack mounts. Furthermore, understanding which adaptor to use to convert connections smoothly is essential. Some common wired accessories to consider for upgrading are power cables, shielded jacks and keystone jacks. Some of these desktop accessories come in different colors to help you organize and group or match them by color.
